How did you find your calling?

I have been an animal lover my entire life. I always had dogs growing up and have been rescuing and saving them, among other animals since I was a child. From a very young age I knew I wanted to be a vet and worked at most of the animal hospitals in town. I chose my college based on the veterinary medical program, and did my internship at the Baltimore Zoo. I realized in college I had a strong emotional attachment to my patients (the animals) so I decided to focus on the behavioral/training side of things. I am most fulfilled when I am able to help a dog and owner work together to conquer an issue. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing the bond grow between the owner and dog after they work together to strive and accomplish things. I also have a wonderful time walking dogs and helping them enjoy their time outdoors in “nature’s gym”.

What would you like to know about a dog before sitting him or her?

It is very important when bringing a dog into my home with my pack to know whether or not they can all integrate. While I have the ability to offer both segregation and integration I require a meet and greet with my pack on neutral ground prior to sitting. My pack all has very distinct personalities which help me in my work to assess other dogs and their behaviors. It is during this time that I am observing your dogs behavior and interaction so that I know what would best suit your dog needs in my home. I ask very specific questions when we meet to get the best sense of your dog(s) habits and behaviors to provide you with the most superior service possible. It is my priority to provide your dog(s) the best possible home away from home experience. I always provide a list of items to provide so that your dog(s) feels most comfortable in it’s new environment and I require all animals be up to date on vaccinations for pet sitting jobs. I’ll ask similar questions for any pet sitting job as well.

Do you have reliable transportation in the event of an emergency?

Yes. I live less than a quarter mile from a trusted vet, less than 2 miles from the Pet E.R. and several other vets.

Are you comfortable administering medication?

Absolutely. Being a former vet tech is an asset to my clients.

What is your neighborhood like? If you have a backyard, please describe it.

I live in a large single family home with a 1/2 acre fenced in back yard and a full screened in porch for training or socializing dogs in case of inclement weather. I often take the dogs on amazing trails close by where I hike and work with the dogs.
